Department of DECORATIVE AND APPLIED ARTS

The history of the Department of Decorative and Applied Arts begins in 1993 with the establishment of the Engineering and Pedagogical Faculty in Rybnitsa. The Department of Decorative and Applied Arts trains specialists in accordance with the Russian State Educational Standard in the following training programs:

– “Design” according specializing in “Design”. The training period is 4 years. The field of professional activity is a type of creative activity for the formation of an aesthetically expressive subject-spatial environment, improving the level of culture and life of the population. The types of professional activity are artistic; design; information technology; organizational and managerial; research.

– “Pedagogical education” specializing in “Fine arts”. The term of study is 4 years for full-time education, 5 years for part-time education. The field of professional activity is education, social sphere and culture. The types of professional activity of bachelors are pedagogical; project; methodological; organizational and managerial; cultural and educational.

The highly qualified staff of the Department of Decorative and Applied Arts united masters of different art schools: Russian, Moldovan, Ukrainian, Belarusian to create and form a professional cultural space, i.e. the creative future of the Pridnestrovian land.

The department prepares graduates for various fields of activity: artistic and practical, in demand both in the education system and in the office, commercial sphere; teaching activities in the field of fine arts and design, art education; research activities on the problems of art studies and art and aesthetic education with the opportunity to continue their studies specializing in master’s program and postgraduate studies.

Traditional and innovative approaches are used in the process of professional training. Art and information and computer technologies are used: video lectures, video workshops, problem lectures, slide lectures, etc. Following the classical traditions of teaching fine art and design, students acquire historical and theoretical knowledge, comprehend the classical experience of the world art schools of painting and design in close connection with the development of fine art techniques in academic classes and in the open air.

The level of scientific and methodological support of the educational process at the department meets the modern requirements of the quality of training specialists. The teachers of the department have developed author’s programs for teaching students taking into account current problems in the field of world fine art and design, practical needs in the field of design activities and different levels of training of students, a number of textbooks have been released. The quality level of teaching is guaranteed by the highly qualified teaching staff, consisting of leading methodologists, professional practitioners.

The teaching staff of the department includes professors, associate professors, members of the Union of Artists of Pridnestrovie, members of the Union of Designers of Pridnestrovie, the International Association “Union of Designers”, members of the Union of Photographers of Pridnestrovie, as well as Honored Cultural Workers of the PMR, Honored Public Education, Honored Artists of the PMR and Folk Artists of the PMR. The department teachers are participants and organizers of international, republican and city exhibitions, competitions, authors of monographs and teaching aids, organizers of student exhibitions.

The department maintains scientific, educational and cultural ties with leading universities in Russia, Ukraine, Moldova. It supports creative and scientific-methodological relations with institutions of additional education, art schools, specialized universities and universities of Pridnestrovie.

The development level of the department is determined, first of all, by the achievements of its students. Our graduates develop the traditions passed on to them by teaching in children’s art schools, in the middle and higher levels of art education in Pridnestrovie. The best ones have become members of the Unions of Artists and Designers of the PMR and Ukraine; some were awarded the titles of Honored Artists, Honored Workers of Culture. Many have become laureates of various awards, leading artists at enterprises, they present their work at national and international exhibitions.
